Directorate of Higher Secondary Education has been created with an aim to exercise administrative control over erstwhile Junior colleges and bring them to the nomenclature of Higher Secondary School.

Directorate of Higher Secondary Education was created from the academic session 2016-17 after being bifurcated from DHE vide Govt. This directorate deals with the infrastructure, curricula, pedagogical methods, admission, teachers, service to the students with the power to formulate policy and guidelines for these schools

Vision

• To acquire and protect existing handed over infrastructure of Erstwhile Junior colleges (Now Higher Secondary Schools).
• To give recognition and permission for opening of new Higher Secondary Schools/ updating the existing Higher Secondary Schools.
• To formulate academic standards / common minimum standards for the Higher Secondary Schools.
• To bring reforms in the existing examination systems and form new guidelines at par with CBSE.
• To strengthen teacher recruitment system and recruit post graduate teachers for the Higher Secondary Schools.
• To monitor and assess the performance of teachers working in Higher Secondary School for better learning outcome.
• To ensure quality education and development of co-curricular activities in Higher Secondary Schools.
